👋 Hi and welcome to today’s edition of Venture Radar where we uncover real internet businesses making real money, and break down how they do it. Today’s edition is in partnership with Vibecasting.
A few days ago, I came across a story - A solo creator built a fully AI-generated podcast around public documents and investigative-style analysis. No recording setup. No production team. No editor.
He built The Epstein Files, a fully AI-generated podcast that analyzes millions of pages of public documents and it exploded fast and it’s making over $30k/month now.
That’s when something clicked for me: content creation used to be an unscalable, manual business. With AI, that’s changed. What used to require research, scripting, voice work, editing, publishing can now be compressed into a workflow that one person can run. You still need a good concept and an audience, but the old production bottlenecks matter less than they used to.
And that opens up a much bigger question:
If one person can now create a polished podcast without the traditional overhead, what kinds of media businesses become possible that simply weren’t practical before?
It also means something else - for the first time, building a content-driven business that generates passive income or does marketing for a startup starts to feel realistically achievable.
Vibecasting is one of the tools capitalizing on this idea – allowing creators to run a podcast end-to-end, with deep research, script writing, voice narration, and publishing to Spotify and Apple Podcasts built in.
You’ve probably heard of vibecoding - letting an AI agent write your code. This is the version of that but for podcasting.
With a single prompt, the Vibecasting AI agent will:
deep research using live web sources
write a script or outline
record the episode (optionally in your voice, using voice cloning)
clean the audio and edit mistakes
add music, transitions, and polish
upload, publish, and repeat next week
It’s an all-in-one platform that lets you create podcasts directly from a prompt or post.
So Are Podcasters Cooked?
We’ve seen concern that AI tools are coming for coding, design, accounting, and other jobs. Will podcasting be another casualty of the AI boom?
We don’t see Vibecasting replacing human podcasters, instead we see it as opening up new possibilities. Once production friction drops, it enables an ecosystem of niche podcasts that serve specific interests to flourish.
For example, you could build a weekly show around local real estate news in San Francisco, or launch a show about the latest funding rounds and deals in your industry. Things that might have been too narrow to justify two guys, a microphone, and a production team sitting down to record every day.
Another strong use case is for people who already create written content.
If you run a newsletter, write blog posts, or publish research, you’ve already done the hardest part – the thinking. Vibecasting allows you to turn your existing content into a podcast without simply reading the text aloud.
Instead of reciting it verbatim, the content gets restructured into a conversational format, enriched with additional context, and turned into something that works for listeners. It can even use your voice, and your friend’s voices
That means one idea can travel much further: a blog becomes a podcast, a newsletter becomes a weekly audio series, and your existing content starts compounding across formats.
How to monetize a podcast
Whereas writing and YouTube can be a hypercompetitive slog, podcasts are a perfect middle ground between ease of creation and ease of monetization.
A podcast can make money directly through sponsorships. It can also serve a more indirect role in helping dominate mindshare in an industry or space and driving sales and leads.
1. Finding high value audiences
You do not need a massive audience to make a niche podcast valuable. But you do need a valuable audience. For example, the Acquired Podcast which covers the stories behind iconic companies, earns around $16m per year from sponsorships thanks to its high-value audience of investors, founders, and executives.
A show that appeals to audiences with disposable income or big advertising budgets can attract highly relevant sponsors even with a modest but targeted listener base.
2. Own the mindshare in an industry
Not all podcasts need to make money from sponsorships.
In fact, some of the most popular podcasts like All In have avoided sponsorships. But for companies and creators, a podcast can be a way to own the narrative in an industry and generate leads.
Let’s say you run a startup, a design agency, or a bootstrapped SaaS product. Instead of treating the podcast as the product, you can treat it as the top of the funnel.
Examples:
A startup lawyer creates short episodes explaining fundraising/legal basics and generates founder leads
A software company turns educational blog content into a podcast that builds trust with prospects
An executive coach launches a weekly podcast turning some advice from her newsletter into a podcast to attract inbound clients
The revenue does not need to come from ads. It can come from the business the podcast supports.
3. Paid podcast and premium content
If you already write online, audio can deepen the value of your content business.
You can:
offer a podcast version of paid newsletter posts
create premium feeds for subscribers
bundle audio explainers with research products
turn written deep dives into subscriber-only podcast episodes
This works especially well for analysts, niche researchers, educators, and writers with a loyal audience.
4. Affiliate and partner revenue
A niche podcast that regularly discusses tools, workflows, products, or founder resources can also generate affiliate income or partner revenue.
For example:
a creator tools podcast can recommend AI software and monetize through partner links
a founder education show can feature finance, CRM, or analytics tools
a productivity podcast can monetize around books, apps, and courses
Again, the advantage of AI-generated production is not just lower cost. It is the ability to test formats and find what monetizes without months of setup.
We Let AI Launch a Podcast
When I learned about the Vibecasting trend, my first thought was…but does it sound good? To test it out, we gave it a simple prompt: “Create a podcast about recent startup funding rounds.”
It pulled recent funding rounds from the web - series A announcements, notable investors, deal sizes. Then it wrote a full script: cold open, three funding stories with context, transitions between segments, and a closing takeaway.
We picked a two-host conversational format, selected voices, and hit generate.
Forty seconds later, we had a 22-minute episode with intro music, natural back-and-forth dialogue, and segment transitions - ready to publish to Spotify.
No outline. No recording. No editing. The entire thing took less time than writing this paragraph.
The good
The storyline and script writing is excellent. Episodes start with engaging hooks and have good storylines.
Music and sound design adapts to the episode topic.
Voice and audio quality was better than expected. A discerning listener can probably tell it’s AI, and every now and then the AI might pronounce a word incorrectly.
The friend invite system is pretty neat – you can invite friends to co-host podcasts and create a podcast with your pals.
Sometimes the episodes have fun segments, for example I noticed one music podcast had a fun segment where the two hosts played a Bingo guessing game.
The issues
The sound design is pretty formulaic - basic intro and outro music. Some of my favorite podcasts like Vox’s Today Explained have super engaging, custom sound design that AI probably won’t be replicating any time soon.
Some repetition - I notice the AI generated scripts can sometimes mention a topic that has already been covered again.
Speed - each episode takes around 5 minutes to generate. Potentially faster than tools like NotebookLM, but still can feel like a long wait.
Vibecasting researches recent rounds, writes a script, and generates the audio.
The Podcast Production Era Is Over
A year ago, launching a podcast meant buying a mic, learning to edit audio, and committing to a weekly production schedule most people abandon by episode six. Now you can type a topic and get a published episode in a few minutes.
That doesn’t mean every podcast will be AI generated in the future. It means the barrier is no longer production, it’s having an idea and something to say. And if you already have that - a newsletter, a niche you know cold, a business that needs a top-of-funnel, there’s no reason not to test it.
The creators who move now will own the niches before everyone else realizes how easy podcasting has gotten in the AI age.
